Central Identification Bureau
Between 1955 and 1958 a Central Identification Bureau emerged at Camp des Mares. Michigan State, along with the Sûreté and South Vietnam’s other security forces, established the bureau, which contained a fingerprint division and a National Identity Card program (NIC) of South Vietnamese citizens. The Central Identification Bureau converted the fingerprint systems of the Vietnamese police systems to a more updated version, and reclassified about 600,000 fingerprint cards.128 Records
